To eliminate the need for a whole set of socket wrenches, Magnum Industries Inc., P.O. Box 40386, Cleveland, Ohio 44140, has developed a socket that adjusts to fit all popular-size nuts and bolts, in both metric and nonmetric sizes. It goes from five-sixteenths to fiveeighths of an inch in standard sizes, and from 8 to 16 millimeters in metric sizes.
Called the Ultra-Socket and carrying a suggested price of $29.95, it is made of chrome-molybdenum tool steel and fits all standard three-eighths-inch drive ratchets and socket wrench handles. The socket is placed over the nut or bolt head, and then a knurled collar at the top is turned until three jaws inside the socket close snugly over the fastener; it will then grip like a regular socket wrench.
The manufacturer asserts that it will outperform a standard socket on bolts that are rusted or have slightly rounded heads. All-Purpose Ratchet Handle
