France—During the drive for Avranches an American patrol heads cautiously toward a convent where Nazi soldiers are believed to have fortified themselves. Two nuns come out to meet the patrol bearing the German offer of surrender. Capt. Albert J. Owen, nearest the nuns, accepted the surrender.
