Why Photographers Get Gray!
France – Bert Brandt, ACME War Pool photographer, after swimming ashore on the Allied beachhead along the Norman Coast, carefully dries off his equipment. It was a tossup whether his stuff was ruined by the sea water, or not. But it was “not,” for he turned in an outstanding job of covering the invasion action and his photos were the first to reach London—and the U.S.—of any of the pool men. Passed by censors.
